Charity project

Since year 2016 Destination Management Company Baltic Blues House launched an annual charity initiative – “Beaver Ben” summer camps for orphans and children living in poverty organised in the most beautiful natural park of Lithuania – the Curonian Spit.

We arrange awesome summer holidays for them – something that they would never be able to experience without us! In these camps children raise awareness about ecological problems and get involved in various activities that take care of the pristine beach, forest and dunes of the Curonian Spit, e.g. helping the national park to protect the habitat of rare species of birds and animals. It also helps to reduce a harmful impact of mass tourism to the fragile environment of the Curonian Spit.

Why the Curonian Spit? The Curonian Spit lies between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. This unique place is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is a live natural museum where long chains of white sand dunes, beach and forest are home for a large number of rare birds and mammals. The daily impact of tourism is negatively challenging this unique place. Therefore Baltic Blues feels responsibility to come up with the initiative to protect the beauty of this natural park.

In 2016-2018 Baltic Blues House has organised 5 summer camps of 10-11 days for 87 kids.

Every day children are involved into various activities, like workshops about environmental education, sports games, trekking in dunes, boat trips, excursions to museums and art classes.

Moreover they take active part in cleaning the shores of the Baltic Sea.  Every year children spent 40 hours of cleaning the beach and dunes and collect around 9000 liters of garbage.

We invite you into partnership. Our vision is to organise camps through the whole of summer and bring it to international level by inviting children from other countries. To make this happen, we kindly ask for support from other environmentally responsible travel companies and new investments.
